Limericks are special
silly poems that have Irish origins. Here are some
samples of Limericks:
The fabulous Wizard of Oz
Retired from business becoz,
Due to up-to-date science,
To most of his clients
He wasn't the Wiz that he woz.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
A traveler once to his
sorrow
Requested a ticket to Morrow.
Said the railman, "It's plain
That there isn't a train
To Morrow today, but tomorrow."
You can see that they
really don't have to make any sense, it's the rhythm and rhyme
that make a Limerick. The FIRST and SECOND lines rhyme
together. The THIRD and FOURTH lines rhyme together.
The LAST line usually rhymes with the FIRST line and sometimes
repeats the word at the end of the FIRST or SECOND line.
Ok, does it seem like you're back in school? lol
We won't be judging on proper form or anything, that was just
a little bit of information to help you in your writing.
There really aren't any
rules to this one, just send me your limericks. I will
add them to the Limericks page...remember, the sillier, the
better!
